Our History

How we got here

1953

Company founded

Ed Ouellet starts the business in Charlestown, Massachusetts, replacing and washing commercial air filters.

1969

Expansion into liquid filtration

The company broadens its services beyond air filters to include liquid filtration systems.

1974

Growth into Connecticut

Operations expand south with the acquisition of the West Haven facility, serving a wider regional customer base.

1995

Entered the cleanroom market

The company begins designing and constructing cleanrooms for pharmaceutical, biotech, and other controlled environments.

1997

Acquisition of Environmental Filter Company

Manufacturing capabilities expand with the addition of the Woburn, Massachusetts facility.

2004

Headquarters relocation to Burlington

Centralized operations in Burlington, Massachusetts, to better support continued regional growth.

2024

Expanded into New York Recent

Commercial filtration services extend across state lines into the New York metro area and beyond.

2025

Launched custom e-commerce platform Recent

Direct ordering and digital account tools launch for commercial customers across the Northeast.

Alan Ouellet

Alan joined Filter Sales & Service in 1975 and now leads the company as President. With decades of hands-on experience across every part of the business, Alan focuses on operational excellence and customer relationships. He's the person you'll talk to about major accounts and long-term partnerships.

Tom Ouellet

Vice President

Tom Ouellet

Tom joined the company in 1978 and earned his MS in Finance from Boston College. As Vice President, he focuses on growth strategy, new market expansion, and complex projects. He's typically involved in cleanroom builds and any project crossing significant scope.
